Who says messy isn’t HOT?!

Here is a great example on how to edge it up! Christy LollarĀ  really worked it yesterday! She took the time to blow-dry and straighten her hair that morning, but of course I had to get in it at some point .The first photos we did , her hair was still intact but that is what you want when you are wanting to have classic portrait photos done, you want to be sure your hair looks natural. later as we moved on to other parts of this wonderful location our surroundings became a bit more colorful and darker tones surrounded us, so I knew it was time to kick up the edge. within 2 minutes I had her hair super messy, and it was HOT! Once I took a few shots of it down & messy then I began to pin itup. It sure looks as if it took a very long time but it did not take longer than 4 minutes!Christy really began to interact with the camera, becoming a true model! Yesterday was a great day! Here are some shots from this shoot…

How to Edge it up

If you’re looking to edge up your photo shoot , here are a few tips to achieve that.

When picking out your outfit, choose a article of clothing or accessory that clashes with the rest of your outfit, whether it’d be the style or color.Hair style cannot be perfect, you want a good bit of messiness. You want a lot of volume too, try applying some volume mousse on the roots and make sure to blow dry your hair upside down. A little bit of teasing on the top is great! Then you can just throw your hair around a bit without worrying about any pieces sticking out. You can also wear a couple of clip on hair pieces of a different color, it always adds a little spunk to your look. Your make up should be more dramatic, try a good bit of smoky shadow, or a bright color shadow such as blue or pink, etc. Don’t be afraid of the black eyeliner on the top lid, and bottom(this creates a big pop! making your eye color stand out beautifully). Now since you are dramatizing your eyes, don’t go too dark on the lips, you always want to pick one area of your face you want to stand out. Go all out with your mascara or get some false lashes!

Choose a location that is unorthodox ex:old warehouse, run down building, bulky bridges, etc. Your surroundings can affect your emotions, impacting your facial expressions and body movements, it is very hard to show edginess when you are surrounded with flowers and white picket fences .

We all have a bit of attitude in all of us, you wanna try to bring that out as much as possible. You wanna try to get out of your comfort zone and try new non traditional poses.
